Expert: US deployment of military aircraft a possible 'game changer' in hunt for warlord Kony

A Lord's Resistance Army expert says the U.S. government's decision to deploy military aircraft could be "the decisive game changer" in the hunt for fugitive LRA leader Joseph Kony.

Kasper Agger of the Enough Project said on Monday that the aircraft will allow the anti-Kony mission to "act swiftly" in response to suspected LRA hiding places.

Agger said LRA leaders are weaker now more than ever, the result of defections and an intensified international hunt for Kony and other commanders still at large.

The White House said early Monday that the U.S. is sending a limited number of CV-22 Osprey, refueling aircraft and "associated support personnel" to assist African forces operating in Central Africa.

About 100 U.S. troops have been advising African forces since 2011.
