At least 20 people were killed in a car bomb blast on Friday in the town of Rankus north of Damascus, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Rankus is some 30 kilometres (20 miles) from Damascus, in the Qalamun region, much of which is under the control of rebel forces seeking to oust President Bashar al-Assad.
