BAGHDAD – Officials say three car bombs have killed at least nine people in Iraq.
A police officer says one of the explosives-rigged parked cars went off Sunday in an industrial area of the Shiite city of Karbala, killing four and wounding 25. Karbala is 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Baghdad.
In Kut, another Shiite-dominated city 160 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of Baghdad, a car bomb went off near a gathering of construction workers and food stalls, killing two and wounding 14, another police officer says.
A third blast targeting the head of Baghdad's provincial council in the capital's northern Azamiyah neighborhood killed three and wounded eight, police say. The council head escaped unharmed.
Three medical officials confirmed the casualty figures. All spoke anonymously as they weren't authorized to release information.
