FTSE climbs at open

London equities climbed at the start of trading on Friday, following gains in Tokyo and on Wall Street.

The benchmark FTSE 100 index rose 0.19 percent to 6,694.60 points in early deals compared with Thursday's closing value.

Elsewhere, Frankfurt's DAX 30 gained 0.21 percent to 8,428.58 points and the Paris CAC 40 gained 0.42 percent to stand at 4,059.02.

Tokyo stocks surged 3.29 percent Friday on the back of a firmer dollar, upbeat earnings results and a strong lead from Wall Street.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index closed up 460.39 points at 14,466.16

Buying sentiment was supported after a rally on Wall Street fuelled by strong manufacturing data from China, Europe and the United States saw the S&P 500 end 1.25 percent up at an all-time closing high. The Dow also added 0.83 percent.
