UK police arrest man in relation to online threats directed at feminist campaigner

A man has been arrested in Britain in connection with online threats made toward a feminist campaigner.

Caroline Criado-Perez says she has been facing a deluge of abuse — including threats to rape and kill her — over the past several days since successfully campaigning to get a woman's picture on a U.K. bank note.

Her experience has set off a campaign and petition to ensure Twitter takes more action to combat online threats.

Criado-Perez said Sunday that an arrest had been made in her case and that she was at a police station to make a statement. Scotland Yard confirmed a 21-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of harassment offenses.
