Honduran authorities have confirmed that the charred and mutilated body found on the riverbank of a lagoon in the northern city of San Pedro Sula is that of a missing journalist.
Honduras' top prosecutor Roberto Ramirez says investigators identified Anibal Barrow's body Wednesday through dental records and other forensic tests.
Ramirez says he will not discuss possible motives in the slaying to avoid harming the investigation. The body was found Tuesday.
National police chief Juan Carlos Bonilla says Barrow's body was cut in half and his head and arms were cut off before it was set ablaze.
The 62-year-old journalist had a popular daily morning news show called "Anibal and Nothing More" on Globo television in San Pedro Sula.
Heavily armed men kidnapped Barrow on June 24.
