FORTALEZA, Brazil – Brazilian protesters are gathering again in the city hosting a semifinal match of the Confederations Cup football tournament.
About 5,000 protesters were peacefully marching Thursday about 1 mile (2 kilometers) from the stadium in the northeastern city of Fortaleza, where Spain will play Italy.
The nationwide anti-government protests that have hit Brazil since June 17 are starting to dwindle.
But protesters angry over the billions of dollars being spent to host next year's World Cup are targeting the matches left in the Confederations Cup, the warm-up tournament to next year's big event.
Meanwhile, President Dilma Rousseff is meeting in Brasilia with union leaders and top senators and deputies as the government continues to scramble to meet protester demands over corruption and improved public services.
