An 18-year-old Pakistani actress suffered severe burn injuries in an acid attack in her home, a Pakistani news site reported.
Bushra Waiz was asleep at her family’s home in Nowshera Saturday when the attacker broke into the house and threw around acid, her brother Akhtar Waiz told the Pakistan news site Dawn.
The family believes the attacker was her producer, Shaukat Khan, whom Waiz refused to marry and who did not pay the actress for her work, the family reportedly said.
Doctors at Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital said Waiz’s right leg, arm and the side of her face were badly burned, but she may still have her vision, Dawn reports.
A police officer at a station in Pabbi said authorities are investigating the attack.
