Police say a Scottish man working at an oil company has been kidnapped in Indonesia's Aceh province.

National police spokesman Col. Agus Rianto said Wednesday that 60-year-old Malcolm Primrose of PT Medco E&P Malaka was abducted by four gunmen near Lubuk Pempeng village in East Aceh district.

He said Primrose and his driver were returning to their base camp Tuesday when their car was ambushed. The driver was tied up and left in the car while Primrose was driven away by the abductors. Police and military are searching for him.

In 2008, a French World Bank consultant was abducted by suspected former rebels in Aceh but released unharmed 24 hours later.

The government and separatist rebels signed a peace deal in Aceh in 2005, ending 29 years of fighting.
