The U.S. Embassy in Moscow says it has sent a team to southern Russia to speak to the parents of the two Boston bombing suspects.

An embassy official said the U.S. investigators traveled on Tuesday to Dagestan, a province in southern Russia where the parents of Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are staying.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to speak publicly.

The official said the Russian government is cooperating with the FBI investigation into the bombing at the Boston Marathon on April 15. The Tsarnaev brothers are accused of setting off the bombs that killed three people and wounded more than 180 others.
