A day after President Hugo Chavez died after a two year battle with cancer, thousands of his supporters walked the streets of Caracas behind a flag-draped coffin.
CARACAS, VENEZUELA – Acting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Venezuela National TV that Hugo Chávez's body will be embalmed and be permanently placed in a glass case at the country's military history museum for public viewing.
"Like Lenin, Mao Tse Tung, (Chavez) can be in a glass case and our people can see him forever," Maduro said.
Maduro also said that he will extend the current viewing of Chávez's body for another week, claiming that millions of Venezuelans had already seen the former Venezuelan leader's casket in the last day.
"The commander will be in a position to be seen at least seven days so that people can see it without any limitation," Maduro said.
More than 30 heads of states will be in attendance at the state funeral ceremony on Friday, which will also include more than 50 official international delegations. The ceremony will begin at 11am local time or 1030 a.m. EDT.
Maduro also said that the government will embalm the corpse of Hugo Chávez after the funeral.
