A teenager who killed two people and injured seven in a shooting from a rooftop in southern Finland has been sentenced to life in prison.

The Hyvinkaa District Court on Thursday found Eero Hiltunen guilty of murder, attempted murder and causing grave danger to outsiders.

The 19-year-old confessed to climbing atop a building and randomly opening fire against a crowd outside a restaurant in Hyvinkaa in May. He admitted to manslaughter but not murder. It was not immediately clear whether Hiltunen would appeal.

It was the deadliest shooting incident in Finland since Dec. 31, 2009, when a lone gunman killed his girlfriend in an apartment and four people in a crowded shopping mall just outside Helsinki.
