A gunman opened fire outside the headquarters of the governing center-right New Democracy party near central Athens. No one was hurt.

Police cordoned off the area where an unknown attacker fired an automatic rifle at the building on the capital's busy Syngrou Avenue, south of the city center, early on Monday.

No group claimed immediate responsibility for the attack.
