ACCRA, Ghana – A port official in Ghana says an Argentine naval ship held since October because of a financial dispute is now setting sail.
The ship had been impounded at the behest of private creditors as collateral for unpaid bonds dating from Argentina's economic crisis a decade ago.
Tema Port Director Jacob Adorkor confirmed to The Associated Press that the ship had left Wednesday afternoon.
Argentina appealed to the U.N.'s International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea for the ship's release, arguing that as a warship the Libertad is immune from being seized.
In an expedited ruling, the court ordered its unconditional release on Saturday.
