Chinese state media say a military jet crashed into a house in southwest China, setting it on fire and injuring three people inside.
China Central Television says the crash happened Tuesday morning in Shantou city in Guangdong province. It says the pilot parachuted to safety before the crash. One of the four people inside managed to escape. The other three were hospitalized and one of them, a 26-year-old woman, was in critical condition.
CCTV says on its Twitter-like Weibo microblog that the jet involved was a J-7. The mostly retired fighter jet is a 1960s-era Chinese copy of the Soviet MiG-21.
Shantou city government's emergency office referred calls to its propaganda office, where calls rang unanswered. Calls to the Defense Ministry's news office also rang unanswered.
