North Korea says it will launch a long-range rocket between Dec. 10 and Dec. 22.

The launch will heighten already strained tensions with South Korean ahead of its presidential election on Dec. 19.

North Korea tried in April to launch a long-range rocket but it broke apart shortly after liftoff. The North's Korean Committee for Space Technology said Saturday that it had "analyzed the mistakes that were made" in the April launch and had improved the rocket.
