Colombian rebels say peace talks going well, negotiators 'on same wavelength'

A senior commander of Colombia's main rebel group says peace talks with the government are going well.

The comments by Jesus Santrich after seven days of talks are the clearest signal yet that the half-century-long conflict may be resolved.

The rebel commander says negotiators meeting in the Cuban capital are "on the same wavelength" and have had good results.

He made the comments before heading into another day of talks Tuesday. The Colombian government has said the negotiations need to wrap up in months, not years, if they are to be successful.
