Ghana's port authority is seeking a court order to move a seized Argentine sailing ship because it is blocking commercial business.

Ghana's courts last month ordered the seizure of the Argentine ship, ARA Libertad, to pay off debts owed by the Buenos Aires government to a US equity firm, NML.

The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority is seeking a court ruling to move the vessel away from Tema port because the "presence of the vessel at the port is causing congestion."

Justice Richard Agyei Frimpong adjourned the case to November 5.

Meanwhile, the case in which the Argentine government is contesting the order to seize the vessel has been adjourned to November 9.

The crew on the ship left Accra by a chartered Air France plane last week.
