An Egyptian couple was arrested Saturday after allegedly trying to smuggle their infant son through airport security at Sharjah International Airport, Gulf News reports.
The child was reportedly spotted by customs officials when the X-ray machine showed the 1-year-old baby hidden inside hand luggage.
"When customs officials saw the baby inside the bag at the X-ray scanner, they were stunned," a police official told Gulf News. "This machine is very dangerous for anyone, let alone a baby in a bag to pass through."
The baby reportedly had no visa, passport or official documents to allow him entry into the United Arab Emirates.
The parents, who had visas to enter the UAE, are now under investigation reportedly for putting the life of their child at risk.
