LONDON – A four-year-old girl is in a London hospital after surviving a 30-foot fall at an amusement park.
The girl sustained a fractured skull, fractured ribs and bleeding to the brain, liver and kidneys, The London Times reported late Friday.
The newspaper did not identify the child but other media said her name was Jessica Blake.
She had been standing on a bridge while waiting to go on the "Tomb Blaster" ride at Chessington World of Adventures in Surrey, southeast England, when she fell Thursday.
After the incident, eyewitnesses raised concerns about safety at the park, saying there had been a gap at the section of the bridge where Jessica fell.
The bridge was repaired later Thursday and the park closed for the rest of the day.
"The circumstances surrounding this sad incident are currently under investigation," a spokesman for Chessington World of Adventures said. "We have been in regular contact with the family and our thoughts and best wishes are with them at this time."
On Thursday evening, Jessica's uncle, Steve Blake Poullos, said on Facebook that she was "still fighting for her life, we are all very worried but would like to thank you for all your concerns and well wishes."
