Montreal's Concordia University has created a grant program in honor of Jun Lin, the Chinese student killed and dismembered in a grisly crime that has drawn international attention.

University officials said Friday that they are creating the Jun Lin Award to benefit Chinese students studying at the university.

President and vice-chancellor Frederick Lowy says they are also establishing the Jun Lin Family Fund to provide financial assistance for the immediate needs of the Lin family and are accepting donations through the university.

The family arrived in Montreal this week from China to claim Lin's body.

Lin's body was found dismembered in Montreal late last month. Suspect Luka Rocco Magnotta was arrested Monday in Berlin, and is expected to be extradited to face murder charges in Canada.
