German police probe alleged infant remains found in cooler

German police say they are investigating a grisly discovery: the decomposed remains of what appeared to be three infants found in camping coolers.

The remains were discovered Tuesday and Wednesday in a cellar and garage as the apartment of a 40-year-old woman was being cleared out in Langgoens north of Frankfurt in southwest Germany, the German news agency dapd reports.

Investigators say autopsies did not immediately determine a cause of death.

Dapd reported the woman, who was questioned by police, said the remains were the result of pregnancies that ended in miscarriages. She has four children and is currently serving a six-month sentence for fraud.

Officials say no criminal charges have yet been sought.
