Swiss hostages held by militants in Pakistan reportedly freed

Pakistani security official says that a Swiss couple held captive by Islamist militants since last July are now free and currently with army authorities.

The official says the couple turned up at a military post in North Waziristan region and were taken by army helicopter on Thursday to the northwestern city of Peshawar.

The official didn't give his name because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The Swiss Embassy was not immediately able to confirm the development.
