2 Zetas Arrested for Role in Casino Attack, Police Say

Two alleged members of a notorious Mexican drug cartel have been arrested for their supposed role in the casino fire that killed 52 people in August.

The Mexican army announced the arrests on Monday. A masked army spokesman who did not give his name for security reasons said one of the men was in charge of carrying gasoline containers into the Casino Royale in Monterrey for the Aug. 25 attack.

Gunmen entered the casino, spread gasoline and set the building on fire, trapping and asphyxiating dozens. Officials say the motive was extortion of the casino owners.

Authorities have now arrested 15 suspects in the case. Four others remain at large.

Based on reporting by The Associated Press.
