China prepares for more flooding as rain expected

China's flood control agency has ordered local authorities to prepare for more flooding as heavy rains are expected to hit the Yangtze River region this week.

Seasonal flooding in central and southern China has already killed at least 94 people and left 78 others missing.

The official Xinhua News Agency is reporting that heavy rains are forecast to hit the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze from Monday through Wednesday. Monday's report cites the China Meteorological Administration.

The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters said on its website late Sunday that the water levels of China's main rivers were one yard (meter) below danger lines after weekend torrential rains hit the southeast of the country.
