Carlos the Jackal to stand trial in France in Nov

Prosecutors say the Venezuelan convict known as Carlos the Jackal is set to face trial in Paris starting in November for his alleged role in four deadly terror bombings in the early 1980s in France.

The Paris public prosecutor's office said Thursday the trial is scheduled from Nov. 2 to Dec. 16.

Carlos, whose real name is Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, is accused of a role in four attacks that killed 11 people and injured at least 100. Three others will also stand trial.

Ramirez is already serving a life sentence in France for the 1975 murders of two French secret agents and an alleged informer. He gained notoriety as the Cold War-era mastermind of deadly bombings, killings and hostage dramas.
