A 5.9 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of Chile, but there are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake struck about 80 kilometers (50 miles) west of the coast of Talca province and about 350 kilometers (200 miles) southwest of Santiago, Chile's capital, at 3:02 a.m. local time (1:02 a.m. EST, 0502 GMT).
