China says it hopes leaks do not hurt US ties

China says it hopes U.S. diplomatic leaks painting Beijing's foreign policy as abrasive and its officials as difficult will not hurt relations with Washington.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu told a regular news conference Tuesday that the "absurd content" was not worth commenting on and that she hoped bilateral relations between China and the U.S. would not be disturbed.

The documents released by WikiLeaks show embarrassing and critical chatter about China's rulers in a number of U.S. diplomatic documents.
