Nine people were killed in the Dominican Republic after an explosion in a warehouse.
The blast ignited a fire in the Santo Domingo warehouse, which was under construction.
The cause of the explosion in the warehouse, located in a village just north of the capital, was under investigation, said fire official Leonardo Valdez.
The government said in a statement that at least two of the victims were engineers overseeing the project who died from smoke inhalation.
Valdez said that roughly 40 people were working when the fire broke out Wednesday afternoon.
The warehouse is slated to be part of what will be the country's biggest public hospital system. It will be stocked with medicine that will be sold at a discount to the poor.
