ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey's president says he will not meet his Israeli counterpart on the sidelines of the United Nations' General Assembly in New York.
State-run Anatolia news agency quotes Abdullah Gul saying a scheduling problem will prevent him from meeting with Shimon Peres. Anatolia says Gul spoke to reporters late Sunday in New York.
Relations between the two countries hit a low point after Israel's May raid on an international flotilla that was trying to bust the blockade of Gaza. Nine people, including eight Turks and a Turkish-American, died during the raid.
Turkey is demanding an apology for the incident and compensation for the victims' families.
