WARSAW, Poland -- Who's the president of Poland?
Depending on what time that question is asked Thursday, there could be three different answers.
Poland's constitution has created an unusual situation in the transition to a new head of state following the April 10 death of President Lech Kaczynski in a plane crash.
Bronislaw Komorowski, as parliament's lower house speaker, automatically became the acting president when Kaczynski died and also won the presidential runoff election Sunday.
When Komorowski gave up the speaker's job Thursday morning, Senate Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz became acting president. And when the lower house elects a new speaker later in the day, that person will become acting president, and serve until Komorowski is sworn in in coming weeks.
