BOGOTA (AP) — Colombian authorities have found a rebel-held soldier who hid in the jungle during a confrontation between his captors and soldiers conducting a surprise hostage rescue.

Gen. Freddy Padilla says his unit found Lt. Col. William Donato in the jungle Monday, and that the 41-year-old soldier is in good health.

Donato was rescued along with two high-ranking police officers and an army sergeant on Sunday. All four hostages had been kidnapped in 1998.

The ex-captives are expected to arrive in the Colombian capital of Bogota to be reunited with their families later Monday.
