A worker at Comerica Park has been hit in the eye by a ball during batting practice before the Detroit Tigers' game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Tigers say the man has been taken to a hospital, where tests show vision in both of his eyes is normal. The club declined to identify the employee.

The team says the man was standing behind the left-field fence Monday, near the Tigers' bullpen, when he was hit by a ball. He was attended to by Comerica Park medical staff and taken by cart to an ambulance.

The Tigers say the man works as a crowd manager at Comerica Park and is employed for the season.
