Alice, are you ready to go through the looking glass again? This time in up-to-the-minute Manhattan?

The head of the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center says "Wonderland: Alice's New Musical Adventure" will have its world premiere later this year in Florida as part of a new effort called Broadway Genesis. The project will help create new works for the American stage, according to Judith Lisi, president of the arts center.

"Wonderland," about a modern-day descendant of Lewis Carroll's young heroine, will run Nov. 24-Jan. 3, 2010, at the center's Ferguson Hall. Opening night is set for Dec. 5. The show will feature music by Frank Wildhorn, composer of such Broadway shows as "Jekyll & Hyde" and "The Scarlet Pimpernel." The lyrics are by Jack Murphy. Gregory Boyd, head of Houston's Alley Theatre, will direct.
