Ebony Hoffman scored 14 points and Tamika Catchings added 13 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Indiana Fever to a 63-54 victory over the New York Liberty on Saturday night.
Tully Bevilaqua finished with 13 points and Katie Douglas scored 11 for the Fever (6-2), who tied a franchise record with their sixth consecutive win. Indiana, which also won six straight in July 2007, moved one game ahead of Washington atop the Eastern Conference standings.
Essence Carson had 14 points and Shameka Christon scored 11 for the Liberty (2-6).
After trailing by 17 in the third quarter, New York pulled to 56-50 on Tiffany Jackson's three-point play with 5 minutes left. The Fever answered with Hoffman's 3-pointer to regain the momentum.
