Sophia Young scored 21 points, Becky Hammon added 19 and the San Antonio Silver Stars beat the Minnesota Lynx 77-61 Friday night for their first road win of the season.
Ruth Riley had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Silver Stars (5-5), who lost their first four games on the road. San Antonio pulled away with a 15-0 run to start the fourth quarter.
Candice Wiggins scored 15 points and Nicky Anosike had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Lynx (8-5), who entered the game second in the league in scoring and finished with their lowest output of the season.
After a slow start, San Antonio controlled the tempo and never trailed during the game's final 28 minutes. The Lynx closed within two late in the third quarter, but that's when the Silver Stars pulled away.
San Antonio closed the quarter on a 6-2 run and then extended that spurt to 21-2 early in fourth. Riley's basket in the paint with 6:14 to play pushed the Silver Stars' lead to 68-50.
Minnesota, which also turned the ball over 21 times, missed its first eight shots of the fourth quarter and went scoreless for more than 6 minutes. When Wiggins scored the Lynx's first basket of the quarter, they trailed 71-52.
