The Atlanta Thrashers have acquired defenseman Pavel Kubina from Toronto in a four-player trade.

The Thrashers announced Wednesday night they have traded defenseman Garnet Exelby and forward Colin Stuart to the Maple Leafs for Kubina and forward Tim Stapleton.

The 32-year-old Kubina (koo-BEE-nuh) matched his career high with 40 points for Toronto last season. He had 14 goals and 26 assists.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Kubina, a 2004 All-Star, will add size and experience to the Thrashers' line.

Stapleton scored one goal in four games with the Maple Leafs last season.

Exelby had seven assists in 59 games last season. Stuart had five goals and three assists in 33 games.
