NASHVILLE, Tenn. —  Matthew Dotson, who was 6 of 11 from 3-point range, scored 18 points and Belmont defeated Florida Gulf Coast 79-67 in an Atlantic Sun Conference contest on Monday night.

Alex Renfroe added 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Bruins (7-6, 3-1).

Belmont was 11-for-31 from behind the 3-point arc, including 3 of 5 by Renfroe.

The Bruins led by as many as 17 points on a layup by Shane Dansby with 8:09 left in the game.

Florida Gulf Coast (5-10, 1-3) shot 35 percent (21 of 60) and was 8 of 24 from 3-point range.

Reggie Chambers and Reed Baker scored 20 points each to pace the Eagles. Baker, who was 8 of 8 from the free-throw line, tallied 10 rebounds.
