Accused Gas Station Owner Is Killed

Friday, March 28, 2008

DETROIT —  A man awaiting trial on charges of killing a rival gas station owner has been shot to death in his driveway.

Authorities say there are no suspects in the shooting Friday of 52-year-old Hassan Masbouth.

Police say he was shot four times in the head while sitting in his vehicle with his wife. She was not injured.

Police have said Jawad Bazzi confronted the victim in November after Masbouth dropped the price of regular gasoline. Police say Masbouth shot Bazzi.

Masbouth was free on $500,000 bond and awaiting trial on open murder charges.
