PHILADELPHIA —  A former University of Pennsylvania business professor who was previously convicted in a teen sex sting was indicted Wednesday on charges he produced and distributed child pornography.

Lawrence Scott Ward, 64, was arrested in August as he returned from Brazil through Washington Dulles International Airport.

Federal authorities who searched his laptop computer said it contained a video of young children engaged in sexual activity. They also said they found videos showing the defendant involved in sex acts with teenage boys.

The three-count indictment charges that Ward produced, imported, and possessed child pornography. His arraignment was set for Thursday in Virginia.

Ward's attorney, Peter Greenspun, did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment. He previously called the government's case"horribly weak."

Ward was convicted in 1999 of soliciting sex from a Pennsylvania state trooper posing as a 15-year-old male prostitute, a prosecutor said at Ward's recent bail hearing.
