A fatal car crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon near Spur, Texas, involving three storm chasers amid a severe weather outbreak.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash, occurring at a rural crossroad. Investigators believe that one of the two cars involved ran a stop sign, colliding with the other vehicle.
"This afternoon we learned that three people died in a car accident in Texas, including two contractors for the Weather Channel, Kelley Williamson and Randy Yarnall," The Weather Channel said in a statement.
"Kelley and Randy were beloved members of the weather community. We are saddened by this loss and our deepest sympathies go out to the families and loved ones of all involved."
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers said that the weather did not directly cause the accident, although a tornado-warned thunderstorm was nearby.

DPS Sgt. John Gonzalez confirmed that all three people involved in the crash were storm chasers. Investigators believe that one of the two cars involved ran a stop sign, colliding with the other vehicle.
