A roller coaster of temperatures will continue this week, as mild air is replaced with temperatures that are well below normal for the weekend.
A wave of cooler air brought highs only to the upper 30s on Tuesday. However, a surge of warm air from the south will bring temperatures closer to the norm for February.
On Thursday and Friday, those in the Atlanta area will be greeted with highs in the lower to middle 50s. The average temperature for the middle of February is around 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
The warmth will be short lived as arctic air dives down from Canada into the mid-Atlantic late on Friday.
Cooler air will settle over the region again, just in time for the weekend. Despite sunshine, highs for Saturday and Sunday are only expected in the middle to upper 40s.
Those out and about for Valentine's Day will want to bundle up, as lows on Saturday night dip down into the middle 20s.
