A 5.1-magnitude earthquake rattled the southern coast of Spain Thursday afternoon.
The USGS reports that the epicenter of the 5.1-magnitude earthquake was located about 41 km (25 miles) north-northeast of Al Hoceima, Morocco, and 75 km (47 miles) west-northwest of Melilla, Spain.
The earthquake struck at 2:47 p.m. CET Thursday.
With the epicenter located over the Alboran Sea, no major damage was reported at any coastal communities of Spain.
Weak shaking was reported to the USGS, including in Malaga and Almeria.
