A tornado struck a drilling rig in Canadian, Texas, Wednesday night and caused several injuries.
Although the tornado missed the heart of the town, damage to a gas drilling rig was reported. The tornado was confirmed by the National Weather Service at 5:02 p.m. CDT.
At least three people were taken to a local hospital with injuries, KFOR reported.
Canadian, located in the Texas Panhandle, sits roughly 190 miles west of Oklahoma City.
"Yet another in a series of disturbances moved eastward from the Great Basin and caused a round of severe weather in the Texas Panhandle Wednesday, including some tornadoes," AccuWeather Meteorologist Mark Paquette said.
The severe storms also closed part of nearby Highway 83 as strong winds knocked down several trees.
Possible tornadoes were also reported across Kansas, Mississippi and Colorado.
