Following showers and thunderstorms on Friday, sunshine will return to much of the Northeast and could make for the best weekend weather of the spring so far for outdoor activities.
For those waiting for a weekend to bike, hike, walk, run or simply get outside, this could be your weekend.
A push of dry air will expand from the Midwest this weekend, chasing away rain.
Nearly ideal weather conditions are in store for viewing the cherry blossoms at Washington, D.C., or strolling around Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
For fans attending the Red Sox and Yankees match in New York City, the Nationals and Phillies game in Philadelphia, the Blue Jays versus Orioles in Baltimore and the Tigers at Indians in Cleveland, the weather this weekend will be fine for baseball.
According to AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek, "Saturday will bring gusty breezes throughout the Northeast with conditions ranging from pleasantly cool east of the Appalachians to borderline chilly in the Appalachians of northern New England."
Temperatures are forecast to rebound to near seasonable levels in the 50s across upstate New York and southern New England to the 60s in much of the mid-Atlantic during Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the 70s over much of southeastern Virginia.
"Saturday will be dry in most areas, but the day could start with flurries and sprinkles from northern Pennsylvania to northern New England," Dombek said.
Sunday will bring dramatic improvement in the northern tier, for those hoping to spend considerable time outdoors, where winter has held on for so long.
The weekend will transition to nearly perfect outdoor conditions for most outdoor field activities.
"Sunday will be a gorgeous day in most areas with abundant sunshine and light winds making for a mild afternoon," Dombek said.
Sunday will be the warmer of the two weekend days with abundant sunshine throughout the region.
