As severe storms marched across the Central U.S., eight reported tornadoes touched down on Wednesday evening in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.
Spotters across the Plains observed hail up to 4 inches in diameter as strong downpours blasted communities. In Villa Ridge, Missouri, a mobile home park was flooded the second straight day after heavy rain inundated the community Tuesday and Wednesday. Water was reported up to 2 feet high, and local officials were called in to assist residents.
Flooding claimed the life of a woman in Hendricks County, Indiana, as heavy rain fell across the area for a second day in a row. While attempting to clear debris from Tuesday's storm, she was swept into an overflowing stream, WTHR reports.
Thousands across Missouri and Illinois were without power as the storm impacts lingered into the late evening hours on Wednesday.
