Icy roadways led to treacherous travel for drivers across parts of the Northeast on Sunday.
In southeastern Pennsylvania, one person was killed and more than 30 were injured during a chain reaction pileup that involved more than 50 vehicles on the Schuylkill Expressway, WPVI in Philadelphia reported. The accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. and the expressway didn't reopen until 2:15 p.m. the station reported.
Additionally, a separate multi-vehicle crash on the Blue Route in Broomall, Pennsylvania left two dead, WPVI said.

During Sunday morning, multiple accidents occurred along I-95, I-76 and I-476 in the Philadelphia area. Around New York City, ABC7 reported accidents along the New Jersey Turnpike, Bruckner Expressway, Cross Bronx Expressway, Taconic Parkway and Palisades Parkway.
According to the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA), all bridges servicing southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey were closed for approximately two hours, Sunday morning, due to icy conditions.
Hundreds of accidents were reported by the New Jersey State Police as they urged caution on the roadways.
