WATCH: Pandas Frolic and Enjoy the DC Snow Day at the Smithsonian's National Zoo

Due to inclement weather, the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington, D.C., was closed to the public on Tuesday.

However, the wintry conditions didn't stop many of the animals who enjoy the cold from having a rollicking good time in the snow which blanketed the region.

For Bao Bao, a 16-month-old giant panda cub, it was her first time playing in the snow, and judging by the photos and videos below, she had a blast. Giant pandas live in mountainous bamboo forests in China and during the winter. It can be very cold and snowy in those regions, the zoo said.

Bao Bao was photographed rolling down a hill and climbing a tree, as well as jumping on her mother, Mei Xiang.

A fast-moving clipper system brought 2-4 inches of snow around the Washington, D.C., area on Tuesday. Frigid conditions are expected to remain for the next several days as high temperatures will struggle to get above the freezing mark through Thursday.

Bao Bao wasn't the only animal excited about the snow. African lion cubs, Gunther the gray seal and Crystal, a gray wolf were also out and about enjoying the weather.
