A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck offshore of Guam Thursday afternoon local time, or early Thursday morning EDT.
The earthquake occurred about 30 miles northwest of Hagatna, Guam, reported the USGS.
The depth of the earthquake was measured at 83.2 miles. A Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected because the quake was too deep. There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
The above data is preliminary and could change as further examination occurs.
