Warm weather fans in the Boston area will have something to be happy about this week. However bathers may face rough surf toward the holiday weekend due to Cristobal.
A flow of dry, cool air that moved in over the weekend will be replaced by building warmth and humidity under sunshine through the middle of the week.
High temperatures Monday through Wednesday will be well into the 80s F. Temperatures typically range from a low of 63 to a high of 78 during the last week of August.
The pattern will have fans buzzing and air conditioners humming, before another strong cooling trend toward the end of the week.
For people trying to get a last-minute break at the beach, the surf will remain relatively tranquil through Wednesday. There is a chance of a thunderstorm during the second half of the week for people with outdoor plans.
While Cristobal is forecast to remain at sea, the system will get strong enough and close enough to generate rough surf later this week into the first part of the Labor Day weekend around southern Massachusetts beaches. There will be the potential for frequent and strong rip currents Friday and Saturday.
